Find the fault before replacing parts
We inspect vehicle electrical faults at our Jesmond workshop and on mobile call-outs across Newcastle. We use scan data and electrical checks to find the fault and plan the repair.
Finding the fault
A warning light or electrical problem can have more than one cause. We start with what the vehicle is doing and when the fault occurs.
A fault code can point us in the right direction, but it does not always identify the failed part. We also check the relevant wiring, connections, power supplies and electrical system.
What we check
The checks depend on the vehicle and the problem reported.
Note what happens, when it happens and any dashboard messages.
Use scan data and direct electrical checks to inspect the affected system.
Trace the fault to the relevant wiring, connection, supply, system or component.
Explain what was found and what needs repairing.
More than a fault code
Stored fault information can help point us towards the problem. We still compare it with the symptoms and check the relevant electrical system.
Similar symptoms can have different causes. Direct checks help avoid replacing parts that are not faulty.
